Misleading 0% finance advert

I bought a three year old vehicle from this car dealership in Carlisle and whilst I have no complaints about the part exchange deal I was given I found the salesperson most unhelpful at explaining two finance promotions which were on offer. It had been widely advertised that 0% finance was available on purchases of used cars at all Border Cars dealerships but when I inquired about this I was told 'You don't get anything for nothing!' I then was presented with an example of a loan from a finance company which they use which amounted to 4% finance for 1 to 5 years and it was mentioned that the alternative would have required taking out two loans, 'which nobody wants to do'. I went ahead with the purchase using the former finance but felt I had been misled by the advert into thinking their finance would have been offered at 0% rather than 4%.

I later tried to inquire through customer services as to what in fact the alternative finance really was and eventually had an explanation.

It required the loan to be divided in two.

One half of finance would have been at 8.5% and the other half at 0% which across both amounts would still have equaled 4% finance.

Had this been clear in their advert from the start I would have felt better prepared to arrange the finance of my choice. I found their advertising approach misleading and confusing and it caused unnecessary stress to the experience of buying from them.

This dealer tried to carry out unnecessary work on my car and tried to charge me over £600 for doing it.
